Atomic-age curves and a slender reach give the Roald Wall Sconce by Hudson Valley Lighting its mid-century personality. This adjustable wall sconce extends a thin steel arm toward a gourd-shaped shade dotted with decorative perforations, which let small points of light escape around the main beam. Small metal details along the arm and backplate add craftsmanship without clutter. Roald comes in aged brass or distressed bronze, with the shade finished to match, so the fixture reads as one continuous, sculptural line.
With a 19.75-inch extension, 12.5-inch height and 5.5-inch width, Roald reaches out over a bed, a reading chair, or a desk in a home office, which makes it an ideal task light. It takes one 15-watt E26 medium R20 LED bulb, works with a full-range dimmer, and is damp rated. Install an adjustable wall sconce on each side of a headboard to free up nightstand space while keeping light right where you read.
