Crotch mahogany, with its flame-like figure, gives the Maitland-Smith Poetry Mahogany Desk its rich, glowing surface. Antique brown leather and brass knobs complete this traditional lady's desk, drawing on the maker's long expertise in fine woods, metal mounts and leatherwork. Made from natural materials, no two pieces are exactly alike.
Its compact proportions suit a bedroom, guest room, study or home office corner, where a full executive desk would overwhelm the space. Two drawers keep stationery, chargers and correspondence close at hand, and the top offers room for writing, a laptop and a lamp. Place it beneath a window or against a wall with a framed mirror or art above, and pair it with a caned or upholstered chair for a writing nook with real character. It also serves gracefully as a vanity or as a small console in a sitting room.
