Carved rope detailing is usually finished in gilt or dark timber; rendering it in flat white is the decision that makes this mirror unusual. White removes colour from the equation entirely, so the twisted rope profile is read purely through the shadows it casts. In practice that means the frame looks quite different through the day, crisp and graphic under directional morning light, soft and almost flat under overcast conditions.
