A blotter is one of those objects whose usefulness is easy to underestimate until you work on one.

A blotter does two things at once: it protects the desk surface beneath from pens, cups and abrasion, and it gives you a slightly yielding surface to write on, which is noticeably more comfortable than pressing paper against bare wood. Polyurethane foam padding provides that give here, wrapped in croco embossed buffalo leather with a cotton backing. Buffalo hide is thicker and more robust than calf, so the pressed scale pattern holds its relief through years of daily contact rather than flattening.

Use it alone to define a working zone on a large desk, or with the matching Scaleo desk set and picture frames to run one material through the whole surface.
