Substituting stone for glass turns a hurricane into something else entirely: the flame is hidden, and the vessel itself becomes the light source.

Alabaster is translucent rather than transparent, so it does not let a flame show through but absorbs the light and re-emits it across its whole surface. A candle inside makes the entire stone glow from within, warm and honeyed, with the mineral's natural veining visible as darker striations running through the light. Because alabaster is quarried, each piece differs in colour, opacity and veining, meaning the exact pattern your Ruby produces cannot be repeated. An iron frame in antique brass holds the stone.

Assembly is required. Because the light it produces is diffuse rather than directional, it works particularly well in a room where several small sources are wanted instead of one bright one.
