Burl is normally reserved for small objects because the material is expensive and difficult to work; using it across a four-foot console is deliberately extravagant.

Mappa burl comes from a growth deformity rather than the trunk, which is why the figure swirls and knots instead of running in straight lines. No two sheets match, so the pattern across this table is unrepeatable. At 3.35 inches the top is unusually thick, and that matters here: the edge becomes a visible band of swirling figure rather than a thin line, so the burl is read from standing height as well as from above. Oak and MDF form the structure beneath.

Keep what sits on it minimal, since a surface with this much natural pattern competes with anything busy placed on top.
