At 15.75 inches high this side table sits deliberately low, closer to seat height than to the arm of a chair.

That is a choice rather than an oversight. A low table beside a deep sofa keeps a drink within an easy downward reach instead of requiring a lift, and visually it stays below the horizon line of the seating so it never interrupts the view across a room. The 27.56 by 19.69 inch top is generous for the height, giving a surface that holds a full tray rather than just a glass.

Light brown mappa burl veneer covers plywood, MDF and oak beneath, with antique brass supplying the metallic accent. Burl is normally reserved for small decorative objects because of its cost and the difficulty of working it, so running it across a complete tabletop is unusual, and because the figure derives from irregular growth rather than straight grain, no two tables carry the same pattern. The 2.36 inch edge gives the top visible substance.
