Long and shallow rather than square, the Faro Box is proportioned for what really needs corralling on a desk.

Mappa burl veneer gives the box its character. Burl comes from a growth deformity in the tree rather than the trunk, so the figuring swirls and knots instead of running in straight grain, and no two sheets are alike. Across a lid of this size the pattern has room to be seen properly, which is why burl suits box lids so well: the whole surface becomes a single piece of natural pattern. Because burl is too unstable to work solid, it is laid as veneer over an MDF core, with an iron-reinforced structure and a soft 100% polyester lining inside.

Set it on a desk, a dressing table or a console, where the swirling grain rewards attention at close range.
