This stool has metal zig zag springs under the foam - on a piece just 20.87 inches square.

Springs in something this small are not the obvious choice. A footstool of this size would normally be a foam block on a webbed platform, which is cheaper and perfectly serviceable. Springs make the seat yield progressively instead of compressing straight down, so it behaves like part of the sofa it accompanies rather than like a firm cube. That consistency is the point when the stool is used as a footrest.

At 18.50 inches high it shares its height exactly with the Dorantes ottoman and sits just below the sofa's 18.11 inch seat, so the three line up. Bouclé sonata cream is 95% polyester with 5% acrylic rated beyond 80,000 rubs, the looped texture hiding marks a flat pale weave would show.
