Polypropylene foam rather than polyurethane is the quiet reason this stool belongs in a kitchen. Nearly all upholstered seating uses polyurethane. Polypropylene is stiffer, more resilient and absorbs virtually no moisture, so a spill that soaks through the cloth does not sit in the padding beneath - which is where a lingering smell usually starts. On a cream stool at a counter where food is prepared, that is worth a great deal. Camari cream is a six-fibre blend that gives the colour a mottled, tweedy depth rather than a flat pale surface, and against brushed brass, marble and oak it reads warm and expensive. Backless at 17.91 inches across, it slides fully under a counter and keeps sightlines clean across an open-plan room, while the swivel lets you sit and rise from any angle. Rated beyond 80,000 Martindale rubs with pilling at 4 to 5 of 5 and colour fastness to light at the top of the scale for a sunlit kitchen. CAL-117 compliant, fully assembled.
