Standing over six feet tall on a granite plinth, this is a floor lamp with the mass to hold a corner rather than merely occupy one.

The base is the engineering decision that matters. Stone rather than weighted metal gives the lamp a low centre of gravity and a footprint that resists being knocked, which is what allows the stainless steel column above to stay so slim without appearing precarious.
